This is an archive of past Bay Area 9-11 events, from January 2010 - recent events. The events that I have organized are in my blog/archive, but there is so much happening in the Bay Area- many 9-11 events that I have not organized or even heard about- this just reflects the ones that I have been aware of and have tried to help publicize. The most recent events will be added to the bottom of this list, oldest events are at the top.

        Tri-City Documentary Series begins its fourth year with a free screening of:

        Rethink Afghanistan

        Award-winning filmmaker Robert Greenwald delivers a ground-breaking documentary that shatters all perceived truths behind the war in Afghanistan. President Obama has decided to send more than 30,000 extra troops to Afghanistan, at a cost of more than $100 billion/year. But America cannot afford a war that does not make us safer, and Congress has the power to stop the escalation.

    1,000 Architects & Engineers demand new 9/11 WTC investigation!

        As of January 2010, over 1,000 architects and engineers have signed our petition demanding a real investigation into the destruction of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers on 9/11. This petition, along with AE911Truth literature and DVDs, will also be presented to every Member of Congress.

        To underscore the importance of this milestone achievement, AE911Truth is launching a massive publicity campaign nationwide and holding a Press Conference followed by an exclusive Keynote Luncheon to include David Ray Griffin, Steven Jones and others.

          PROGRAM:

            11:00 am - Press Conference
            Richard Gage, AIA, accompanied by other distinguished speakers and prominent petition signers, will announce this milestone with a brief dynamic presentation of the evidence which has convinced over 1,000 architects and engineers to support the demand for a real investigation. The presentation will be followed by Q&A. Press kits will be distributed.

            12:00 pm - Keynote Luncheon
            Exclusive luncheon in honor of the thousand petition signers, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to the success of AE911Truth. To mark the occasion, distinguished members of the 9/11 Truth movement, including David Ray Griffin, PhD. and Steven Jones, PhD., will make important relevant presentations. We will also present an overview of the major accomplishments achieved in 2009 along with the ambitious goals we have set for 2010.

            This conference will give us the opportunity to strategize with and empower our architect and engineer petition signers. Our goal: to develop more AE911Truth speakers and otherwise actively disseminate our message to fellow A&E professionals. We will focus on several methods of structuring and delivering the message effectively. And hear your ideas about how to make AE911Truth even more impactful.

  • San Francisco March and Rally Against the Wars

      11 a.m. Civic Center Plaza

        In Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other cities there will be rallies and marches against the wars.

        The national actions are initiated by a large number of organizations and prominent individuals. March 20 is the seventh anniversary of the criminal war of aggression launched by Bush and Cheney against Iraq. One million or more Iraqis have died. Tens of thousands of U.S. troops have lost their lives or been maimed, and continue to suffer a whole host of enduring problems from this terrible war.

        Organizing meetings will be held in San Francisco. We encourage people to attend the meetings, support and request speakers to address 9/11 Truth, still the founding myth for both wars and the bogus war on terrorism. Northern California 9/11 truth Alliance will endorse the SF Rally, have a booth at the Civic Center and a contingent in the march. We also could use help organizing the contingent, signs, banners for the rally, please attend our meetings in Berkeley to get involved.   • Empire, Power & Propaganda Lecture Series

The series is a fund raiser in support of Flashpoints Radio, and the Media Freedom Foundation/Project Censored Investigative Reporting fund.       Dr. Kevin Barrett is the author of three books including the brand-new Questioning the War on Terror: A Primer for Obama Voters, which deconstructs the "war on terror" through Socratic questioning. A Ph.D. Arabist-Islamologist, he has taught languages, literature, humanities, religious studies, and folklore at colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad.

      Blacklisted from teaching at the University of Wisconsin since 2006, Dr. Barrett has recently worked as a talk radio host, author, public speaker, and congressional candidate. One of the best-known critics of the War on Terror, Dr. Barrett has appeared on Fox, CNN, PBS, ABC-TV, and Unavision, and has been the subject of op-eds and feature stories in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, and other publications.       About the Green Festival... Back in January 2002 when we marched to demand a Congressional Investigation of 9/11, one person was particularly key to the meeting and the publicity- that was Kevin Danaher of Global Exchange, who came up with the idea of "Demanding an investigation." Kevin has been an ally of the Truth Movement from the very beginning and is one of the few people who does a lot of public speaking, is highly visible, articulate and speaks out on the issue. This is the second time that we have actually had a booth at the Green Festival, it is a wonderful event and a great outreach opportunity for us. I asked Kevin about getting a 9/11 speaker and he said that he would address the issue- so be sure to catch his presentation and make sure he doesn't forget to mention it! Let us combine the Turth, Peace and Justice Movements in an environment where we are welcome! Our booth is #954 (in the East), north of the main stage/auditorium area this year.   • AE911Truth Local Action Groups Now Forming

        To Local SF Bay Area AE911Truth Petition Signers & Supporters:

        On behalf of Richard Gage, AIA, founder of Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth, we thank you for signing the petition calling for a REAL investigation into the destruction of the 3 World Trade Center skyscrapers on 9/11.

        We need your creative help and energy!

        Mr. Gage has been speaking out nonstop to present the evidence all around the country. But he is only one person. Now that over 1,000 Architects, Engineers and other building professionals have signed on to the petition, we’re building on the momentum of this milestone to kick–start a nationwide coordinated chain of independent and autonomous Action Groups.

        Help us to start the first of what we intend to be many AE911Truth Action Groups — right here in the Bay Area. We want to give YOU, at the local level, an opportunity to come and work with other local petition signers to take REAL ACTION — to break through the media blackout in the last nine years.

        Our first meeting/potluck lunch is intended to get the SF Bay Area action group(s) off and running — and to develop a clearly defined format and structure for future groups with the help of the SF Action Group templates, checklists, and online tools like Meetup. Please come and join with Mr. Gage and the SF Action Team from wherever you may live in the SF Bay Area because we want to start at least 4 groups: North Bay, South Bay, East Bay, and SF Peninsula. Future meetings will take place in your area. If you can’t make it to the first meeting but would like to help organize in your area please let us know.

        We want to be ready with enough established Action Groups to broadcast a set of unified messages nationwide in time for the 9th anniversary of 9/11 in 2010. Your energy, input and professional connections are vital to our efforts.

        Initial Goals for the AE911Truth Action Groups:

          • EDUCATE A/E professionals, and BUILD PUBLIC DEMAND for investigation & accountability.
          • PROMOTE, support & create AE911Truth EVENTS across the country.
          • BUILD ALLIANCES with first responders & other building trade members.
          • Create additional OPPORTUNITIES to take ACTION regarding 9/11 Truth.

    The ANSWER Coalition, along with many other organizations and individuals, is co-sponsoring and organizing for emergency protests taking place around the country to denounce the Israeli military massacre of activists on a Gaza aid convoy. As many as 19 international activists were killed by Israel, with dozens injured. The death toll may rise.

    In an act of piracy and a blatant violation of international law, the Israeli government has committed a cold-blooded massacre on the high seas against a group of courageous individuals whose only crime was to extend a hand of solidarity to the besieged and blockaded people in Gaza.

    The Gaza aid flotilla is made up of seven ships carrying 700 people and bringing medical, construction and school supplies to besieged Palestinians in Gaza. It was attacked in international waters by 14 Israeli ships. Heavily armed Israeli commandos dropped onto the ships from helicopters and opened fire on the activists.

    Gaza has been blockaded by Israel since 2007 with full backing by the U.S. government. The blockade is a brutal form of collective punishment aimed at strangling the Palestinian people. Since coming to office, the Obama administration has continued the enormous funding to Israel allowing the continued siege of Gaza, the occupation and expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and Israel's non-stop war against all of the Palestinian people. President Obama has promised at least $30 billion in military aid to Israel over the next 10 years.

    Come out to these protests to condemn this outrageous massacre and call for an immediate end of the siege of Gaza.

      Points of Unity

      All participants in the Free Gaza Movement accept the following principles and practices:

        1. We respect the human rights of everyone, regardless of race, tribe, religion, ethnicity, nationality, citizenship or language.

        2. The lawful inhabitants of all territories occupied by Israel since June 5, 1967 must have unimpeded access to international waters and air space, in conformity with all UN resolutions and international law.

        3. The lawful inhabitants of all territories occupied by Israel since June 5, 1967 have the right to control all entry and exit to and from those territories without Israeli interference.

        4. Israel must withdraw its military presence from all territories occupied since June 5, 1967 and revoke all legislation, regulations, directives and practices that apply differently to different populations living in those territories.

        5. Israel must demolish all barriers built to restrict passage in all territories occupied by Israel since June 5, 1967.

        6. We recognize the right of all Palestinian refugees and exiles and their heirs to return to their homes in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories; to recover their properties, and to receive compensation for damage, dispossession and unlawful use of such property. This is an individual and not a collective right, and cannot be negotiated except by the individual.

        7. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, but support no particular political party or organization, without exception.

        8. We agree to adhere to the principles of nonviolence and nonviolent resistance in word and deed at all times.

      Speaking for the San Francisco Tesla Society. Richard Gage, AIA, is a San Francisco Bay Area architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He is the founding member of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. He has been a practicing architect for over 20 years and has worked on most types of building construction, including numerous fire-proofed steel-framed buildings. Most recently he worked on the construction documents for a $400M mixed-use urban project with 1.2 million square feet of retail, parking structure, and 320,000 square feet of mid-rise office space—altogether with about 1,200 tons of steel framing.

      Mr. Gage became interested in researching the destruction of the WTC high-rises after hearing the startling conclusions of a reluctant 9/11 researcher, David Ray Griffin, on the radio in 2006, which launched his own unyielding quest for the truth about 9/11.

        On July 6, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will be in Washington meeting with President Obama. The meeting was originally scheduled for June 1, the day after Israel’s act of piracy and murder against the Gaza Freedom Flotilla that left at least nine people dead and dozens wounded. Every day, Palestinians continue to be killed, wounded and imprisoned by the occupation forces.

        The 24-hour shutdown of the SSA terminal at the Port of Oakland where an Israeli Zim lines ship docked on June 20 was a historic victory. More than 1,000 people joined the morning and afternoon mass picket lines, which were honored by members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 10. June 20 was the first time ever that an Israeli ship was boycotted in a U.S. port. Norwegian, Swedish and South African dock workers have called protests refusing to handle Israeli cargo.

        The worldwide BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement against Israeli apartheid is rapidly gaining momentum. Just last week, the largest British public workers union, UNISON, which has more than 1.4 million members, passed a motion at its national conference reading, in part:
        “Conference reaffirms the support for an economic, cultural and sporting boycott of Israel and call on Unison to join the scores of unions around the world who have endorsed the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel. Further to that as an immediate sanction for the illegal attack on the flotilla, we call on the government to expel the Israeli ambassador.”

        Demonstrations are planned in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and other cities on July 6.

        Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance sponsored a retreat following the Understanding Deep Politics Conference. From the retreat, a Declaration for Accountability emerged. Charlotte Dennett, Kristina Borjesson and Barrrie Zwicker were primary architects of the document which emerged from a deeper discussion into the themes of the conference- Who are we? What are the problems? What are the the solutions? What can we do together that we cannot do alone? Drawing upon the group's wisdom, they were inspired to write a declaration, and a call to action to cast light upon deep forces, despotically trying to control humanity, and to inspire, awaken and empower a broad coalition to work together to regain control over our lives and our future.

        Kristina Borjesson, an investigative reporter and independent producer for more than twenty years, Kristina has worked at a variety of top media agencies including CBS network, where she won an Emmy and a Murrow Award for her investigative reporting on "CBS Reports: Legacy of Shame" with Dan Rather and Randall Pinkston. She she has worked for CBS, CNN, and PBS covering a rich variety of topics including the TWA flight 800 disaster, Haiti, Fidel Castro, and crocodiles. Kristina compiled and edited the landmark book Into the Buzzsaw: Leading Journalists Expose the Myth of a Free Press — a collaborative effort of 20 award-winning journalists. Each of these brave journalists suffered from concerted corporate and/or government efforts to kill their highly revealing stories and their careers. She also wrote Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9/11, Top Journalists Speak Out, in 2005, a damning look at the current state of journalism.

        Charlotte Dennett, author of The People v. Bush: One Lawyer's Campaign to Bring the President to Justice and the Nationwide Grassroots Movement She's Encountered Along the Way, and co-authored with her husband Gerald Colby - Thy Will be Done: The Conquest of the Amazon: Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the Age of Oil. She has been practicing law since 1997, with an emphasis on personal injury litigation and suing the government under the Freedom of Information Act. She's also been a reporter in the Middle East. She was inspired by a conference convened at the Massachusetts School of Law in September 2008 which drew together lawyers and activists to shift their focus "From Impeachment to Prosecution" which evolved into The Robert Jackson Steering Committee, and works to bring about the criminal prosecution of top government officials in the United States whom there is probable cause to believe have committed war crimes. The committee was named in honor of the sentiments of universal accountability to the rule of law articulated by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson at Nuremberg. She also ran for Attorney General of Vermont in 2008 with the support of Vincent Bugliosi, the legendary criminal prosecutor and bestselling author of The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder.         August 6, 2010 marks the 65th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later, a second nuclear bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. Tri-Valley CAREs and other colleague groups invite all Northern California people of peace to participate in a commemoration at the gates of the Livermore nuclear weapons laboratory.

        Following the attacks of September 11th, the first "9/11 Truth Rally and March" took place in 2002, the Panhandle, marching up Haight Street and through Golden Gate Park to the Power to the Peaceful Festival. Every year since then, we have gathered in the Panhandle and paraded/marched to the Festival.-

        Our rally begins at 10:00 am @ the Panhandle (between Oak and Fell at Ashbury)
        11:00 am we begin our march up Ashbury to Haight, through Golden Gate Park to Speedway Meadows and to the Festival which lasts until 5:00 pm.

        John Fitzgerald, a serious campaigner for 9/11 Truth will be one of our featured speakers. Local activist, song writer, Vic Sadot will perform some of his songs at the rally, and during our march. David Chandler, physics teacher, video producer, compelling critic of the official 9/11 report, and Janet Kobren, local activist, a Gaza Freedom Flotilla Survivor, and Zachary Running Wolf, local native elder, encouraging a driving boycott will also speak.

        Satyagraha - Truth Force was born when people gathered together, in their struggle against empire and racism in South Africa. On September 11, 1906, at a public meeting attended by 3000 people where Gandhi spoke, Sheth haji Habib, an old Muslim resident of South Africa, was inspired to consciously speak out and state his decision to act in defiance of an unjust law, that targeted the Indian population of South Africa. Habib declared his willingness to suffer the consequences in a spiritually-endowed fight for justice in the name of God. The theory of satyagraha sees means and ends as inseparable. The means used to obtain an end are wrapped up in and attached to that end. Therefore, it is contradictory to try to use unjust means to obtain justice or to try to use violence to obtain peace. Satyagraha is a synthesis of the Sanskrit words satya (meaning "truth") and Agraha ("pursuit of"). Gandhi believed that life itself is a the pursuit of truth. For Gandhi, satyagraha became strength in practicing non-violent methods, or in his words "the Force which is born of Truth and Love or non-violence." Martin Luther King Jr. defined it as "Love in Action."

The spirit of satyagraha, truth force, non-violent resistance, has never been more needed than in today's world and will be the theme of this year's march.         The collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on the afternoon of 9/11, an event that baffled engineers, now appears to be the most obvious of many smoking guns. Architects and engineers, scientists, military officers, and actors and artists have organized themselves, along with the Building What? Campaign, to seek the truth. Neither the Obama administration nor the US Congress has responded to repeated requests for a new investigation of 9/11. Mainstream media avoids the issue, taking its cue from government officialdom. Those contributing to ad hoc investigations, bringing forth new facts, are characterized as conspiracy nuts.

        In order to evade the conspiracy characterization, our rhetoric will only focus on the need for a new investigation, devoid of the politics associated with earlier efforts. This strategy will be reinforced by the selection of distinguish persons to serve as commission members who will be identified in initiative filing documents ; some commissioners may be foreigners. Commission candidates will be recruited from the global 9/11 Truth Movement. The commissioners will appoint the all-important director of the commission.

        In summary, a 9/11 Initiative campaign will:
        Focus attention of the Global 9/11 Truth Movement on an actionable goal
        Necessitate the raising of substantial funds to finance the initiative campaign
        Have a website to facilitate citizen participation, fundraising, and financial transparency
        Seek out and vet distinguished, qualified persons, to serve on the commission
        File identical initiative measures in several states to make the 9/11 Initiative a national issue
        Circumvent the government and the media by going directly to the people
        Result in a commission with subpoena powers and the necessary public funding
        Create an official body untainted by political interests able to pursue the facts surrounding 9/11 regardless of where they lead
